If you are currently dating or know someone who is then I’m sure the term friends with benefits sounds familiar but what exactly does it mean? The idea is that two friends have a sexual relationship without being emotionally involved or committing to one another. Sound simple? Well, it can become more complex than it sounds.

What are the benefits of participating in this concept? Some would say it’s all fun and no stress but what if you start to catch feelings? While some of us can easily keep the no strings attached mindset let’s be honest, as women we are emotional creatures and it becomes difficult for us to detach ourselves during sexual encounters especially when it’s someone we are smitten for.

If you’ve seen the 2011 cute romantic comedy “Friends with Benefits,” starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis then you got a glimpse of what can happen. Although it had the perfect fairy-tale ending, ladies we know from experience that real life doesn’t always turn out that way.

Many people argue that this craze ruins the dating scene because when you finally meet someone you like, getting them to commit in a world where not committing is the a thing; it seems almost impossible. There’s also the possibility of losing a great friendship if things don’t go as planned. Before jumping the bandwagon, be sure that you can handle all that comes along with the territory. Do you think being friends with benefits is truly beneficial?
